ABYB has made the decision to offer summer baseball for ages 9-12. Registration is now open, and can be found by clicking here; registration closes July 3rd. We are excited to get back on diamond, but that comes with a few caveats while in the midst of reopening during COVID-19:
1) As we are in Phase 2 of re-opening, Acton has not yet reopened baseball fields for practices/games, but we hope to have that by the time Phase 3 opens, hopefully on June 29th.
2) We are currently planning on fielding teams in as many as four divisions in the Bay State league. Bay State baseball is a competitive league, and there will be tryouts as part of this process – likely held the week of July 6th, TBD. We will look at other recreational leagues for those who are not placed on a Bay State roster or are in age groups where we aren’t able to field a team, if available.
The Bay State season starts the final week of July and runs for five weeks into the final week of August. The divisions are:
· A Division – born between 5/1/2007 – 8/31/2008
· B Division – born between 5/1/2008 – 8/31/2009
· C Division – born between 5/1/2009 – 8/31/2010
· D Division – born between 5/1/2010 – 8/31/2011
3) ABYB is compiling a Summer Baseball Guidelines document, in line with recommendations from the Commonwealth, CDC, WHO and other organizations, to ensure we are providing a safe and responsible environment for youth baseball this summer. We are finalizing that document, and will provide it when completed.
