ABYB Playing Up Policy (Approved 11.30.25)

ABYB uses the Little League Age Chart (not school grade) to determine a player’s league age. Each age is tied to division of play within our league. Each division includes a wide range of player skill and experience and focuses on player development at each level of play. 

Requirements for Playing Up (T-BALL & MINOR B):

This applies to any players whose league ages places them in either T-Ball (but wishes to play Minor B) or Minor B (but wishes to play Minor A)

• Player has completed at least 3 seasons at the current division

• Player meets all ABYB-Skills Benchmarks at current division

• Review by the Player Agent/Division Coordinators/Coaches

• Approval by the ABYB Board 

The ABYB Player Agent will review the request along with the feedback from prior seasons’ ABYB coaches. The Player Agent may also request a player evaluation session. If the evaluation session needs to happen prior to the fields being open, an indoor session may be required (30 min cage fee may apply).

The Player Agent will present their recommendation to the ABYB Board for approval. The ABYB Player Agent will contact you once a decision is determined. The decisions of the ABYB Board of Directors are final.

Requirements for Playing Up (MINOR A):
This applies to any players whose league age places them in Minor A, but wishes to play Majors.

All players Little League age 11 and 12 participate in our Majors Division. 10 year old players are moved up to Majors by DRAFT ONLY. A maximum of two 10 year olds will be drafted to each Majors team. An evaluation is held in March for players who wish to be considered.  Any 10 year old players not drafted to a Majors team will play in Minor A.  

ABYB Playing Down Policy

ABYB uses the Little League Age Chart (not school grade) to determine a player’s league age. Each age is tied to division of play within our league. Each division includes a wide range of player skill and experience and focuses on player development at each level of play. 

Requests to play down a division will only be considered based on safety concerns.

Requests will be reviewed by the Player Agent/Division Coordinators/Coaches and brought to the ABYB Board of Directors for Approval.
